Come enjoy our local Fiearro String Quartet in a special pre-concert performance! At 7:00pm they will be performing Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8.
The Montrose Trio will follow this at 7:30pm in Knox-Metropolitan United Church.
The Fiearro quartet is an exceptional and captivating young chamber group.
Formed in 2011 by four young musicians whose friendships flourished through a joy of making music together ….. and the rest is history! It’s this electrifying connection between the musicians, their shared passion, friendship and love for the music that makes their performances so thrilling.
Over its nearly seven year history, the quartet has played in a variety of public and private concerts, performing a diverse range of music from Baroque to modern.
Through the support of the Cecilian Chamber Series, the Regina Summer Strings and the Regina Chamber Music Festival, the Fiearro has been privileged to have worked with a number of award winning quartets including the Dali String Quartet, the Attaca String Quartet, the Afiara String Quartet, the Silver Birch String Quartet, the Linden String Quartet, the Pialli String Quartet, and Annie Fullard (Cavani String Quartet).
Talented performers in their own right, the quartet is made up of Eleanor Hector (violin I), Meika Sonntag (violin II), Mayson Sonntag (viola), and Johnathan Craig Penner (cello). The young musicians are very fortunate to study individually and as a group under the tutelage of Sandra Cosbey (quartet coach), Rudolf Sternadel (violin/viola), and Simon Fryer (cello).
