From Tokyo to Montrose Street

Friday, September 8, 2017 | 7:30pm | Knox-Metropolitan United Church

Jon Kimura Parker – Piano; Clive Greensmith – Cello; Martin Beaver – Violin
Formed in 2014, the Montrose Trio is a collaboration stemming from a long and fruitful relationship between internationally renowned pianist Jon Kimura Parker and two former members of the Tokyo String Quartet. The Montrose Trio has quickly established a reputation for performances of the highest distinction. All three of the musicians are consummate artists and together present a trio that collectively produces a sound that suggests a much bigger ensemble. In 2015 the Washington Post raved about their “absolutely top-notch music-making, as fine as one could ever expect to hear… they are poised to become one of the top piano trios in the world.”
In 2016-17 the Montrose Trio performed in cities including Cleveland, Portland, Houston and Phoenix.

Haydn: Quartet In E-Flat Major, Hob. XV: 29
Shostakovich: Trio In E Minor, Op. 67
Arensky: Trio No. 1, Op. 32

“While all are soloists in their own right, they play as a unit melding seamlessly with an impeccable sense of ensemble, giving vibrant performances that let each work reveal itself in all it has to say” – Albuquerque Journal
